A five-stage restoration, not a quick buff
A headlight lens is polycarbonate, and from the factory it carries a thin UV-hardened clear coat. That coat is what burns off first. Once it goes, the plastic underneath oxidises, goes yellow, and starts scattering your beam — which is exactly what earns you an MOT advisory.
Most “headlight restoration” is a single pass with a machine polisher. It looks better for a fortnight and then fades straight back, because nothing was done about the missing UV layer. Ours is a staged process with a real protective finish — that's why we can offer a 2-year guarantee on the coating.
The whole job takes 1 to 1.5 hours on your driveway. There's nothing you need to do beforehand, and no need to be outside with us.
We can fix lights that are:

Mobile arrival & assessment
We come to your driveway with our own water, power and specialist kit. Before we start, we photograph both lenses and check the beam pattern so you can see the honest starting point.
Deep decontamination
Road grime, tar and old wax are stripped back so the abrasives cut evenly rather than grinding dirt into the lens.
5-stage wet sanding
Progressively finer grits remove oxidation, UV crazing and surface yellowing in controlled passes — never too hot, never too deep into the polycarbonate.
Multi-stage machine polish
Compounds and finishing polishes bring the lens back to optical clarity, removing the sanding haze left behind by the previous stage.
2-year ceramic UV shield
A commercial-grade ceramic sealant is applied and cured. This is the stage that stops your lights fading back to yellow within a few months.
Beam check & handover
We verify the beam pattern for MOT compliance and walk you through the finished result before we pack up.
