Everything you might be wondering

Straight answers on MOTs, the process, how long the results last and how booking works. If yours isn't here, just ask.

MOT & legality

Yes — severely hazy or yellowed lenses distort the light beam pattern and are a major cause of MOT advisories or immediate failures. The tester is checking that your beam hits the right part of the road with the right shape, and a clouded lens scatters it. We finish every restoration with a beam-pattern check so you know it's compliant before we pack up.

No. We're working on the surface of the original lens, not swapping components, so nothing about the car's specification changes. You keep the original factory-fit lights and seals, which is part of the point — aftermarket replacement units can introduce fit and sealing issues of their own.

The visit itself

We bring our own mobile setup, so we can work almost anywhere. That said, having access to a standard household plug socket or a bit of driveway space makes the job effortless — and we'll always confirm the practicalities with you before your slot rather than turning up and hoping.

Most restorations take between 1 and 1.5 hours on your driveway while you relax indoors. There's nothing you need to prepare beforehand, and no need to stand outside with us — though plenty of customers do, out of curiosity.

Yes. Car parks and workplace bays are fine as long as we have permission to be there and a reasonably flat surface. It's one of the main reasons people choose a mobile service — the car never leaves your day.

Light rain is rarely a problem since the work is on the front of the car and the ceramic stage is done under cover where possible. If the weather genuinely isn't workable we'll rearrange your slot rather than rush the job — you'll never be charged for a rescheduled visit.

Results & durability

Our commercial-grade ceramic sealant comes with 2-year UV protection to prevent re-yellowing. That's the stage that separates a proper restoration from a quick buff — without a protective layer, bare polycarbonate starts oxidising again within months.

Not within the coating's lifespan, under normal use. Any clear-coated plastic will eventually wear, but with the ceramic layer in place you're looking at years rather than weeks. Keeping car-wash brush contact off the lenses will help them last longer still.

No — and we'll tell you honestly if yours can't. Lenses with cracks running through them, water inside the housing, or damage into the reflector need replacing rather than polishing. Send a photo and you'll get a straight answer, even when it means we don't get the job.

Clearer, which in practice means noticeably brighter on the road. The bulb hasn't changed — but far more of its output now leaves the lens instead of being scattered by a fogged surface. That's the whole reason hazy lights feel dangerous at night.

Booking & price

We're a fully mobile service covering Norfolk & Suffolk. If you're just outside the usual patch, message Ben with your postcode — we can often still fit you in.

For hazy, yellowed but structurally sound lenses, yes. Restoration costs £75 per pair against £300+ for replacement units, keeps your original factory seals and fit, and produces the same clarity. Where a lens is genuinely broken, replacement is the right call — and we'll say so.

On completion, once you've seen the result — cash or bank transfer. You inspect the finished work before any money changes hands, which is what makes the MOT pass guarantee meaningful rather than marketing.

Most jobs are booked within 48 hours. Send a WhatsApp with your postcode and a couple of photos of your lights and Ben will come back with the soonest slot that works for you.
